Between Cho La, Kongma La, and Renjo La, which pass is more difficult?

Well for a start the three passes trek is incredible and if you can do all three then do. Each pass has its own difficulties. Renjo is a long slow pass and more of a ridge than a pass itself. It is spectacular and more remote than the other two as it goes via the Thame valley. It is a long slow ascent that takes you to 5345 meters. After the “rocky stairs” the views are spectacular.

Cho La is a much quicker pass which is short, steep and very rocky and after snow fall can ice up quite badly. Unlike Renjo is does not have the amazing views but you do have to cross the Ngozumpa glacier to get to Thagnak at the base of the pass.

Then Kongma La on the other side of the Khumbu Glacier (a much shorter crossing than Ngozumpa). This is the toughest of the three passes. Long, steep, rocky but the views from the top of this pass surpass anything else you will have seen.

So in short, Kongma La is the toughest of the three.
